OUR STORY
As actors, Krista and Orsy crossed paths many times at Vancouver film events, before they actually connected. As soon as they did however, it became an endless conversation and dreaming out loud together. Orsy encouraged Krista to write; Krista encouraged Orsy to direct. The result was Lead & Follow, a short film inspired by a true story about a night that changed Krista's life. They discovered that they loved writing/producing together, and started working on a new script immediately. Yellow Heart Pictures, reflects their friendship and desire to bring female voices to the forefront in cinema.
ORSY SZABO is an actor, and filmmaker. She wrote, starred and co-produced the 2013 Crazy 8’s winning short film In The Deep, which is airing on CBC. She previously produced and starred in Lillian Code, which was nominated for 7 Leo Awards. Orsy starred in Nimisha Mukerji's The Arrival Hour, which won the Fan Favourite RBC Emerging Filmmakers Competition at TIFF 2012. She won STORYHIVE Season One with Lead & Follow, which she directed, produced and co-wrote. Orsy holds a BA in Theatre from UBC and an MA in Acting from The New Actors Workshop in NYC. During her time in NYC, Orsy was involved with LAByrinth Theatre, creating original work in an acting, writing and directing capacity. Additionally she works as an Acting Coach for many of Vancouver’s Talent. Recently she directed Alexz Johnson's "Heart Like That" Music Video and acted in Coded the web-series, both can be viewed on STORYHIVE and Telus Optik.
KRISTA RAND has worked in Film and TV for over fifteen years, strategically gaining experience on both sides of the camera. In 2020 she was invited by the Whistler Film Festival (WFF) to partake in their Producers Lab to develop the feature film Re: Uniting. The film is complete (thanks to Telefilm funding/private equity), has Canadian distribution and is now looking for international sales and distribution.

In 2015 Krista co-produced Grand Unified Theory (funded by Telefilm) which won the WFF Audience Choice Award for the Most Popular Canadian Film in 2016. The film had its world premiere at the Beijing Film Festival where it was the only Canadian film in competition for the Tiantian Award. In total it won seven awards, was nominated for thirty two (including three Leo Awards) and screened at eighteen film festivals around the world.
In 2015 her short documentary Authentic Kids won the WFF Canon Hi5 short film challenge in association with Canon Canada. Her team was also invited to pitch MPPIA that year.
Krista had received two grants from STORYHIVE. One for the short film she co-wrote and produced called Lead & Follow (watch HERE) alongside Ian Tracey. The other to produce a music video for Alexz Johnson (watch HERE) alongside Red Castle Films. Her first project as a Producer was a web series called The Last Fall of Ashes that went on to win several awards worldwide.
